Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I know which class is right for my child?
Our classes are grouped by school grade, making it easy to find the right fit for your child’s age and level. If you’re unsure which class to choose, just reach out — we’re happy to help guide you.

2. Can my child try a class before enrolling?
Absolutely! We offer trial classes so your child can experience the class before committing. Simply book in using the link ‘‘Register for your free trial class’ above!

3. Can we switch classes during the year?
You’re welcome to adjust enrolments at the start of Terms 1 and 2 if needed.
However, from Term 3 onward, classes begin preparing for our end-of-year concert, and routines, formations, and choreography are already well underway — so class changes aren’t possible in Terms 3 & 4

4. What should my child wear to class?
We don’t have a strict uniform policy, but we encourage students to wear the Esteem uniform. Hair should be tied up neatly off the face for all classes, and in a bun for Ballet and Acrobatics.

For Ballet, leotards, stockings & ballet shoes must be worn. For other styles, students should wear appropriate dance shoes (jazz shoes, tap shoes, lyrical shoes or sneakers for hip hop). For more details, please refer to our Handbook for full uniform guidelines.

5. Can my child do more than one style of dance?
Yes! Many of our dancers take multiple styles — it’s a fantastic way to build strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence. Learning different styles also helps dancers develop creativity, musicality, and performance skills.
Some classes (like our Competition Troupe) do require students to be enrolled in specific core styles too.

6. Are parents able to watch classes?
For our Mini’s classes, parents are welcome to stay in the studio for the first few weeks to help little ones settle in. After that, we encourage parents to sit just outside the studio — you can watch through the glass windows, relax in our reception area, or grab a coffee from the café next door.

For our older classes, we kindly ask that parents wait outside the studio to help students focus and build independence during class time.

8. When do classes run throughout the year?
Our dance year follows the WA school terms. For 2026, the schedule is:

  • Term 1: 9 weeks – followed by a 2-week break (Monday 2 February to Saturday 4 April)

  • Term 2: 11 weeks – followed by a 2-week break (Monday 20 April to Saturday 4 July)

  • Term 3: 10 weeks – followed by a 2-week break (Monday 20 July to Saturday 26 September)

  • Term 4: 10 weeks- followed by a 6-week break (Monday 12 October to Saturday 18 December)

2026 Competition Troupe Classes (U14 & U16)
Students must have a minimum of 4 years dance experience to join this class. Participation in Ballet, Jazz/Tap, and Lyrical/Contemporary classes is required alongside this troupe.

Dancers in the Competition Troupe will perform in three competitions per year — held during the April, July, and October school holidays at Morley Sport Centre — showcasing routines in both Jazz and Lyrical.
